From this year on, ESWC will be under the umbrella of SWSA, the Semantic Web Science Association, to secure financial sustainability for the upcoming years after its previous supporting organisation STI was dissolved in 2023. Basics about the transition are given by Elena Simperl, president of SWSA.

The image shows a presentation slide titled "ESWC[@]SWSA" displayed on a large screen. The slide outlines the oversight rules that SWSA will follow with ESWC, similar to those at ISWC. The text includes bullet points detailing the roles and responsibilities, such as inviting the general chair, approving program chairs, and holding town hall meetings for improvement. It also mentions the transparent process for appointing local hosts, using profits for sustainability, and ensuring the conference…

Zohran's right. flex posts need to go the way of Andrew Cuomo's career
"we need bollards, we need to replace these flex delineators... there are New Yorkers who do not bike because they're afraid of their safety... we need to further protect our already protected bike lanes."

Zohran Mamdani talking to an interviewer about the need for Jersey barriers and bollards, rather than flex delineators, to protect protected bike lanes. He mentions having to mourn a cyclist killed by a truck driver on Crescent Street in his district, specifically because flex delineators were the only protection provided, and after he had already raised this concern to DOT and been blown off.

A book cover titled "Kein Schwarz. Kein Rot. Kein Gold." by Udo Ulfkotte. The subtitle mentions poverty in a context related to "Lustigen Migrantensadt."

Not only do #Youtube's automatic AI voice-overs sound like customer-service hotline robots ... their translations aren't even correct!
Here's one of those funny "interview with a Javascript programmer / Linux user / etc." videos. It's subtitle right at the beginning mentions a "404 page" (you know, the web server "page not found" errors). The mo…

"Many Christians can’t identify with the word Christian anymore. No wonder the New Testament mentions 'Christian' just three times, as if reluctant to endorse a term that would become so easily exploited or distorted."
—Reflections editor Ray Waddle on the question "Is Christianity Losing its Religion?"

The post is a response to a question asking if Luigi Mangione has saved a person. The response is a reply from another user, who shares a personal story about their fiancée. The reply mentions that the fiancée had a brain tumor that would have been difficult to pay for, but due to the timing of a murder, many insurance companies accepted claims they wo…
